Our Verdict

The Vava VD009 produces highly detailed Day and night front/interior captures, and its large-scale battery allows parking surveillance without hardwiring. It even comes with an app. It's a slightly pricey but excellent crash cam from a mindful-full term, undeviating vendor.

Vava's VD009 dash cam takes more or less of the most detailed picture we've seen—day and night, front and interior. We were slightly frustrated that it doesn't feature Vava's familiar hockey-puck grade factor, but given its features and public presentation—we'll get across information technology. That's a joke folks; it's a identical nice dash cam, even if it is a bit pricey ($180 on Amazon).

This review is part of our ongoing roundup of the champion dash cams. Go on that point for information on competing products and how we tried them.

Design and features

The VD009 has a cylindrical body housing a 2560×1600, 155-degree field-of-view front television camera (Sony IMX33 sensor) and a 1920×1080, 126-degree FOV interior photographic camera (Sony IMX307). The mount is a very effective suction type, however, part of its effectiveness is imputable the very sticky material the cup is made of. Be scrupulous to avoid schmutz (hair's-breadth, fuzz, etc.) after you remove the protective film.

The interior camera is encircled past four infrared lights for advisable night captures in the cabin. Interior captures receive become more and more important to ride givers (and passengers) for documenting behavior. YouTube has some fascinating examples of why this is a good idea.

A 2-inch LCD faces the driver, with quaternity buttons on the bottom of the camera for navigating the menus—a pretty standard arranging. I wasn't peculiarly affected with the low-res text. The miniskirt-USB power port and SD card slot are on the top of the television camera, just above the display. The VD009 ships with a dual-port auxiliary USB adapter. (One of my least favorite things is a dash cam power adapter that hogs the ancillary wall socket.)

The VD009 carries forward one of our favorite Vava innovations—24-hour parking surveillance without hardwiring. There's a 320mAh battery inside that will lean the camera in standby mode for a day or two, waking it aside g-sensor and taking 15-second videos when necessity. I still recommend a OBD-Deuce power line, but the assault and battery is fine for overnight parking. The large battery also allows for a lot of capture time after power is remote. Up to five minutes may be hard, though the default is five seconds.

The Vava Dash Cam app makes it easier to adjust settings and capture video to your phone.

GPS is integrated into the power cable, which eliminates the extra telegraph required with many cheaper units. An Android/iOS app is provided for adjusting settings more easily, A well arsenic capturing video and images to your phone. The latter requires a Wi-Fi connection between the camera and the telephone so you won't be able to access the Internet via WI-Fi spell it's in use. Some newer style cams such as the Nexar Beam work or so this by using Bluetooth.

Performance

There's little to complain about with the VD009's video recording. There's a bit of moiré and e'er-indeed-slight pixel flicker while the picture is in motion, merely this also translates into fantabulous detail, which you can see in the static captures below. While it might non glucinium optimal for a travelogue, IT's passing handy for ratified purposes. And that's what dash cams are for.

Beyond that, the color is plenteous and motion stabilization over bumps is beautiful good. On that point's just any fisheye either, which is scarcely a given with a wide-FOV camera.

vd009 exterior day IDG

Yes, I was parked. But this is a model of the level of contingent you'll get from all the captures.

I was parked for most of these captures, but the VD009 captures even as some detail when the car is moving.

Upcountry captures are detailed and bright.

vd009 exterior night IDG

There's plenty of detail directly up and to the sides in the VD009's dark captures. This appears far brighter than the same scene does to the open heart.

As you can attend from the night exterior capture in a higher place, the Sony sensor captures an uncommon total of detail, both directly leading and in the surrounding arena. This scene appears more brighter than it does to the naked eye.

vd009 interior night IDG

Okay, I tense with about 10 usable seconds of indoor Nox capture. Keep in nou that there's none back hindquarters in my car so you'rhenium non missing anything. Detail is quite good.

I essential say that I didn't do my first job taking interior video with the VD009. Regardless, given the lighting, there's very much of detail visible. This is a 2-seater fomite with a black interior.

Good enough clobber

The 2K VD009 is a tad pricey, but there's no arguing with the quality of camera or its video. Information technology's one of the punter front/interior units we've tested.
